THE MAKGADIGADI & MOREMI
We were the first visitors in 3 months after the rains to visit Kubu Island in the Makgadigadi Salt Pans and were fortunate to have the entire island to ourselves.
Kubu Island (Ga'nnyo) is a dry granite rock island located in the Makgadikgadi Pan area of Botswana. The entire island is a national monument, and is considered a sacred site by the indigenous people of the area.
It is accessible by four wheel drive vehicles and has basic camping facilities.
Moremi is in the northern part of the Okavango and borders on Chobe.
