SWAKOP & KHAN RIVERS
The Swakop River, along with its main tributary Khan, is one of the largest temporary water-bearing rivers in the dry western part of Namibia. The Swakop River Canyon is one of Namibia’s hidden gems. Every bit as picturesque as Namibia’s larger Fish River Canyon, the drive through this canyon is simply breath-taking and transports you to another world.
Popularly referred to as the “Moon Valley”, the Swakop River Valley boasts glorious lunar landscapes formed over 460 million years ago.
Higher up-stream we enter the Khan River, a geological treasure trove set amidst harsh rocky landscapes carved deep into the Namib desert plains.
